Our mixes of native Missouri species will provide color from early May into October and attract many kinds of wildlife. Of the 18-22 species in the mixes, 2-4 are annuals or biennials in low concentrations. The numerous perennials will take longer to bloom but will be around for years to come. The contents vary due to availability.

Seeding Rates:
Plant either mixes at a rate of about 8 to 9 lb. per acre or one ounce per 250-300 square feet for a solid stand. The mixes contain no grasses, but can be planted with them. Native grasses are usually planted at 8-10 lb. per acre for a solid stand. When seeding wildflowers and grasses together, use enough of the two combined to seed a solid stand. Example: 50% wildflowers and 50% grass would be 4 lb./acre wildflower mix + 4 lb./acre grass to give 100% (solid stand).
Grasses commonly used to favor wildflowers are Little Bluestem, Sideoats Grama, Broom Sedge, and Prairie Dropseed. On very dry, rocky or clay soils, 1/4 Lanceleaf Coreopsis and 3/4 Dry Shallow Soil mix can be used with good results (no grass).
